At Humidorist, we have not smoked it, so this page covers the published specs and the price change from 2024, with no flavor or strength verdict of our own.

What the La Gloria Cubana Gran Legado Is

The Gran Legado is a 7 3/4 x 62 figurado from La Gloria Cubana, rolled at the El Credito Cigar Factory in Santiago, Dominican Republic. Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG) owns the non-Cuban La Gloria Cubana brand. halfwheel reported on November 3, 2026, that STG began shipping it that week, and Cigar Dojo gives November 1 as the start of retailer shipments.

2024 Versus 2026 Gran Legado Release

The 2026 Gran Legado is the same cigar as the 2024 version, according to halfwheel, and the only change halfwheel reports is the price. halfwheel calls this the sophomore release of a 2024 limited edition. halfwheel first covered the cigar on July 23, 2024, in a piece titled "La Gloria Cubana Gran Legado Arrives."

Point 2024 Release 2026 Release
Size and shape 7 3/4 x 62 figurado 7 3/4 x 62 figurado
Wrapper Connecticut broadleaf Connecticut broadleaf
Filler Dominican and Nicaraguan Dominican and Nicaraguan
MSRP per cigar $14.99 $15.89
Release type Limited edition Limited edition, quantity not disclosed

The 2026 price is $0.90 more per cigar ($15.89 minus $14.99), an increase of about 6 percent. Neither report says whether shop prices match MSRP, so the $158.90 box figure is the maker's suggested price only.

If you smoked a 2024 Gran Legado, halfwheel's report gives no blend or size change for 2026. halfwheel's page also lists a review of the cigar dated December 11, 2024, by Brooks Whittington. We have not read it, so we do not repeat its findings here.

The Rollers Behind the La Gloria Cubana Gran Legado

STG said the Gran Legado was designed to pay tribute to the rollers and bunchers who make the cigars, according to halfwheel. The company says only people with at least 15 years of experience were allowed to make it. In 2024, STG said each cigar included a secondary band with the signature of the person who made it. The 2026 reports do not repeat this detail.

John Hakim, brand manager for La Gloria Cubana, explained the return in a press release, according to halfwheel, and Cigar Dojo quotes him too. "We decided to bring Gran Legado back not only because fans kept asking, but to continue to tell the story of El Credito and legacy of our rollers who are family at this point," Hakim said. He added, "They've dedicated their lives to this craft, and they deserve to have their stories told."

The El Credito name has its own history in Miami. Our page on Cuban cigars in Miami covers the El Credito factory story in Little Havana, which is a separate history from the Santiago factory where the Gran Legado is rolled.

Who Should Chase One

Pick the Gran Legado if you want a 7 3/4 x 62 maduro figurado that the maker describes as medium to full, with coffee and leather notes. The company suggests pairing it with cognac, espresso or cabernet, according to Cigar Dojo.

Skip it if you want a mild cigar or a short smoke. At 7 3/4 x 62, it is a very large cigar, and we expect a long smoking time from the size alone. Neither halfwheel nor Cigar Dojo publishes a smoking time, so treat that as our inference from the dimensions.

If you are newer to cigars or watching cost, start with our best cigars for beginners list. Our best cheap cigars page includes a regular La Gloria Cubana under $9, which is a different and cheaper line from the Gran Legado.

Our answer would change in two cases: STG publishing a production number, or a chance for us to smoke the 2026 Gran Legado and report on it.
